Managed detection and response with Huntress for growing businesses
Antivirus stops known threats. Attackers who slip past it need to be found by people. Nexxo deploys and manages Huntress on every device and Microsoft 365 account, so a 24/7 security team is watching and we act on what they find.
Request an assessmentWhy antivirus alone no longer protects your business
Managed detection and response (MDR) exists because most breaches today don’t look like a virus. An attacker logs in with a stolen password, quietly creates a hidden account or a mailbox forwarding rule, and waits. Antivirus sees nothing wrong, because nothing it recognizes has happened. Weeks later, files are encrypted or a supplier is paid into the wrong bank account. Buying a detection tool isn’t enough on its own either: someone has to install it everywhere, read the alerts, decide what is real and respond at 2 a.m. on a Sunday. For most SMBs, that person doesn’t exist. Nexxo fills that gap. We deploy Huntress managed EDR to every workstation and server, connect it to your Microsoft 365 tenant, and work hand in hand with the Huntress Security Operations Center. When they confirm a threat, we contain it, clean it up and explain what happened in plain language.
Managed EDR on every device
We install the lightweight Huntress agent on all your workstations and servers and make sure none are missed, including new laptops and remote staff. It watches for suspicious activity without slowing people down or getting in the way of daily work.
24/7 human-led SOC
Alerts are reviewed by Huntress’s Security Operations Center, a team of analysts working around the clock. They investigate what triggered an alert, filter out the noise and send a clear report when something needs action, so you aren’t flooded with false alarms.
Rapid device isolation
When a computer is confirmed compromised, it can be cut off from the network while staying reachable for investigation. That stops an attacker from spreading to other machines or your file server while we work on cleanup.
Foothold and ransomware detection
Attackers often plant hidden tools that survive a reboot so they can come back later. Huntress hunts for these persistent footholds and for early ransomware behaviour, giving us a chance to act before files are encrypted.
Microsoft 365 identity protection
Managed ITDR watches your Microsoft 365 accounts for suspicious logins, hijacked sessions and malicious mailbox rules used in business email compromise. If an account is taken over, we can lock it down and reset access quickly.
Plain-language monthly reporting
Each month we send a short summary of what was detected, what we did about it and what still needs attention. No jargon, just what an owner or office manager needs to know. Huntress security awareness training can be added for your staff.
Our 4-step Huntress MDR approach
Assess your environment
We take stock of your devices, servers, Microsoft 365 accounts and current security tools. You get a clear picture of where the gaps are and exactly what Huntress will cover, before anything is installed or changed.
Deploy and connect
We roll out the Huntress agent to every device and connect your Microsoft 365 tenant. Deployment runs quietly in the background, and we confirm every machine is reporting so nothing is left unprotected, including remote laptops.
Tune and respond
We tune the setup to how your business works and act on every SOC report. When a threat is confirmed, we isolate the device, remediate the problem and keep you informed, day or night, with 24/7 support.
Report and improve
Monthly reviews in plain language show what happened and what changed. We recommend practical next steps, such as tightening sign-in rules or retiring old accounts, so your protection keeps improving over time and stays aligned with your business.
Fast detection helps you meet your Law 25 incident obligations
Under Québec’s Law 25, a business that suffers a confidentiality incident must assess whether it presents a risk of serious injury, record it in its incident register and, when the risk is serious, notify the Commission d’accès à l’information (CAI) and the people affected. You can’t do any of that well if you don’t know an intrusion happened, or when it started. Huntress MDR reports give you a timeline and evidence of what was touched. Nexxo helps you turn that information into what your person in charge of personal information needs. This supports your obligations; it isn’t legal advice.
- Earlier detectionIntrusions are spotted and contained sooner, which limits how much personal information could be exposed in the first place.
- Documented timelineSOC reports show what happened, on which device or account, and when, which helps you assess the risk of serious injury.
- Register-ready recordsWe help you capture the facts your confidentiality incident register needs, instead of rebuilding them from memory weeks later.
- Support for notificationsWhen notifying the CAI or affected people is required, you have clear evidence to work from with your legal advisor.

Contact Us →What is managed detection and response (MDR)?
Managed detection and response is a service where security software watches your computers and accounts for signs of an attack, and a team of people investigates and responds to what it finds. The difference with antivirus is the human part: analysts look at suspicious activity in context, decide whether it is real and take action. With Nexxo, Huntress’s 24/7 SOC does the investigation and our team handles containment, cleanup and follow-up with you.
We already have antivirus. Do we need MDR too?
In most cases, yes. Antivirus such as Microsoft Defender is good at blocking known malicious files, and Huntress is designed to work alongside it rather than replace it. But many attacks use stolen passwords, legitimate tools or hidden persistence that antivirus doesn’t flag. MDR adds the layer that looks for that behaviour and puts a person on the alert. Together, they cover far more than either one alone.
What is the difference between EDR and managed EDR?
EDR (endpoint detection and response) is the software that records and flags suspicious activity on a device. On its own, it produces alerts that someone has to read and act on, often at inconvenient hours. Managed EDR means that work is done for you: Huntress’s analysts review the alerts around the clock and Nexxo acts on their findings. For an SMB without an in-house security team, managed EDR is usually the practical option.
What affects the cost of managed detection and response?
The main factors are the number of devices and servers to protect, the number of Microsoft 365 users if you add identity protection, and whether you want extras like security awareness training. The state of your environment also matters, for example old computers that need attention before deployment. We don’t publish fixed prices because every business is different. After a short assessment, we give you a clear, itemized proposal.
How does Huntress protect our Microsoft 365 accounts?
Huntress Managed ITDR connects to your Microsoft 365 tenant and watches for signs of account takeover: logins from unusual locations, hijacked sessions and mailbox rules that hide or forward messages, a common trick in business email compromise. When the SOC confirms a problem, the account can be disabled and its sessions cut off. Nexxo then resets access, checks what the attacker touched and helps you tighten sign-in security.
Can we switch to Huntress from another security tool?
Yes. We plan the switch so you are never left without protection. Typically, we deploy Huntress first, confirm every device is reporting, and only then remove the old product if it is being replaced. Because Huntress works alongside Microsoft Defender antivirus, many businesses keep Defender in place. We handle the rollout and cleanup, and your team mostly won’t notice anything during the change.
Does MDR help with Québec’s Law 25?
It helps. Law 25 requires you to assess confidentiality incidents, record them in a register and notify the CAI and affected people when there is a risk of serious injury. That depends on knowing an incident happened and what it affected. Huntress reports give you a timeline and evidence, and Nexxo helps you document it. MDR supports your obligations but doesn’t guarantee compliance on its own, so involve your legal advisor.
What happens if a real attack is detected at night?
Huntress’s SOC works 24/7, so an attack at night or on a weekend is still investigated. If a device is confirmed compromised, it can be isolated from the network right away to stop the spread. Nexxo’s 24/7 support is then alerted to take over remediation, contact you and get people working again. You get a clear explanation of what happened and what we changed afterward.
